El presidente Kennedy es asesinado en Dallas y el vicepresidente Lyndon Johnson se hace cargo de la presidencia. Un hecho que conmovió al mundo. Nuevamente los norteamericanos reviven el crímen de un presidente. El pueblo norteamericano vivió esta tragedia con inmenso dolor, aún hoy este crímen no se ha olvidado.
El acusado del asesinato fue Lee Oswald: "Presunto asesino del presidente Kennedy" que fue asesinado también por Jack Ruby el 24 de noviembre. Una de las peores décadas de los norteamericanos, ellos también tienen de que avergonzarse y mucho. Ya en los años 50 se venía gestando un clima extraño con el Macartismo donde se perseguía a muchos artistas. En realidad después de la guerra ellos que habían sido los "Salvadores" de Europa luchando contra Hitler comienzan a realizar cosas que no tenían nada que ver con la democracia, perseguir gente, perseguir ideas, delatar, expulsar a los artistas del país, resurge el temible Ku-Klux-Klan, que es el nombre que han adoptado varias organizaciones de extrema derecha en Estados Unidos, creadas en el siglo XIX, con esas espantosas capuchas blancas sacando a los negros de sus casas y asesinándolos, matándolos a golpes o ahorcándolos que bien se muestra en la película de Alan Parker "Mississippi en llamas" con Gene Hackman y William Dafoe. Se instala la guerra fría, nuevamente hay un odio racial terrible, la mafia enquistada en la política. En este clima muere John Fitzgerald Kennedy y esto continúa hasta finales de los 60, ocurre también la muerte de Robert Kennedy y Martín Luther King.
Ya en los años 70 esta situación se calma pero a veces me pregunto si esto hubiera pasado en la Argentina: Que hubieran dicho de nosotros? Cual hubiera sido el tratamiento hacia nuestro país? Muchos países tendrián que callarse cuando hablan de Argentina, no han sido ejemplo de nada, pensemos en este hecho, este crimen a Kennedy, pensemos en Franco, pensemos en Mussolini, pensemos en Hitler, tendrían que pedir disculpas al mundo por esos nombres y por las cosas que todavía siguen haciendo. como el apoyo al Golpe de Bolivia y sus acciones en Chile y los golpes de América Latina Toda.
Kennedy tenía 46 años al momento del atentado, dotado de indudable carisma personal, fue considerado la esperanza más atractiva de la política norteamericana a pesar que tiene puntos oscuros en su vida y en su mandato. Licenciado en la Universidad de Harvard, intervino en la segunda guerra como voluntario de la marina, donde sufrió una herida grave en la espina dorsal, esto acabaría de formar su carácter indómito. Concluída la guerra se inició en la política y en 1960 fue nombrado candidato a la presidencia por el partido demócrata, ganando las elecciones siendo el hombre más jóven en llegar a la Casa Blanca. Casado con Jacqueline Bouvier en 1953. Muere en el atentado en Dallas cuando todavía se esperaba más de su energía, inteligencia y combatividad.
El cine reflejó directamente o indirectamente este hecho: "El asesinato de un presidente norteamericano" de 1973 con dirección de David Miller con Burt Lancaster y Robert Ryan. J.F.K. de 1992 con la dirección de Oliver Stone con Kevin Kostner, Donald Sutherland, Jack Lemmon entre otros. Hay escenas durísimas como las imágenes del atentado con tres disparos de lugares diferentes. O la noticia de la muerte de Kennedy en un diario de un pueblo cuando todavía no había muerto. O el ingreso a la sala de operaciones de gente extraña cuando el presidente estaba agonizando. La película muestra lo confuso y sospechoso que fue todo y habla claramente de una conspiración. Otro film sería "I como Icaro" de Henri Verneuil con Yves Montand que claramente toma el asesinato en referencia a Kennedy y la investigación que hace el personaje que interpreta Montand mezclándolo con la leyenda de "I Como Icaro"....aquel pájaro que voló tan alto, que quiso saber todo, que quería estar arriba de todo, llegó tan alto que el sol le quemó las alas y cayó muerto", todo esto se escucha mientras asesinan a Yves Montand cruzando un paralelo entre el investigador y la leyenda. Este film es excelente y es de 1979.
En lo personal recuerdo a mis padres muy impactados con el asesinato, las imágenes en los noticieros y las fotos de los diarios, nuestra generación creció con esta carga en las espaldas y creyendo siempre que Kennedy fue un hombre bueno, no es el motivo cuestionar esto en esta nota sino relatar el hecho y sus sensaciones, insisto que Kennedy tuvo puntos oscuros en su vida y su mandato, pensemos en la extraña muerte de Marilyn, vinculada a él y a su hermano o ciertas contradicciones en sus ideas a pesar de tener aciertos en su gobierno. De todas formas fue uno de los grandes hombres del siglo XX y hoy todavía conmueve su asesinato. Uno de los hechos más conmovedores del siglo XX......el asesinato de un Presidente.
